Hello Readers,

No more V1R4 & V1R5.2 Now DraftSight has unique name with Year 2015. Introducing DraftSight 2015 !

DraftSight 2015 release notes from SWYM  Community .

Activate a trial version of DraftSight Professional by simply clicking the “Start DraftSight Professional Trial” button in the menu bar at the top of the graphics area.  This will launch a 30 day trial where users can discover all of the productivity features available in the Professional and enterprise versions of DraftSight.

What’s new in FREE DraftSight?

  • Recent Documents

By clicking the F4 button on the keyboard, the last 12 drawing files opened will graphically appear in the window. The user will simply need to click the image to open a specific file. NOTE: This feature is available for ALL versions of DraftSight. Watch the video

  • Dimension Palette

The use of the dimension pallet will allow the users the ability to update the formatting of all dimensions in place without the need to use the Properties Palette.

  • Rotate-Move-Copy

This is one of the more requested updates to DraftSight by our users. In one command, users a can now rotate, move, copy and even scale entities.

  • Delete Duplicates

This command will allow users to clean up their drawing file by deleting lines that are created on top of existing lines. For lines that overlap each other, using this command will merge the two entities together. Watch the video

  • G-Code Generator

Using the G-code generator will allow users the ability to create the G-code for the machining of the part. G-Code is an NC (numerically controlled) programming language used for controlling automated machine tools. Watch the video

Toolbox updates in DraftSight 2015 include a reorganized and simplified options menu where users can access a central options dialog for all of their toolbox settings.  Also, new is the inclusion of Screw Connections. With Screw connection, users will be able ti insert hardware stack-ups that are typical in assembly drawings.  These stack-ups will include all of the necessary hardware such as Bolts, Washers and Nuts. Hi Tom,

You can always change Background from OPTIONS > System Options > Display > Element Colors > Select background such as ‘Model Background’ Change color or Reset to make it default ..

      Hope this helps !

    Thanks for responding Sam.

I found the problem. Apparently my previous rev profile caused Draftsight to malfunction. I found a post that said to delete the draftsight folder found in
(I use Windows 7) C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\. This “DraftSight” folder contains the profile that was set up by the previous install. The post said to delete the Draftsight folder and restart Draftsight. Draftsight recreates the folder with the default setup. When I did this, the command window was white again and working properly, my file, edit, view, etc were all back, Toolbox was located in the bar and not blocking the top file, edit, view…. In other words, it is fixed.

    Hello,

This is George again. I’m having another problem with this new release. As I’ve stated in my previous post, I’m using the free version. It has all I need to get the things I need done for 2d work. I don’t need the premium version atm. When starting the 2015 version of Draftsight, I get the “Toolbox” bar that I think is blocking the “file, view, help” bar. I see no way to turn the “Toolbox” bar off. Does anybody know how to do this?

      Hi George,
Please check this post: http://www.cadoasis.com/draftsight-user-interface/ on that post check this section: C. Toolbars and Palettes Menu:
      OR
You can run command from command line as TOOLBARS
You can add or remove any Toolbar by Checking and Unchecking from MAIN > or from ‘Toolbar..’ button
You will find Toolbox toolbar option in it.
You can select ‘Standard’ toolbar from it to see File options like save and all.

You can drag any Toolbox or any toolbar by selecting left edge and dragging it from Mouse cursor.
If this doesn’t resolve your issue or you have more issues then feel free to send me screen shot of your DraftSight window on [email protected]

      Regards,
      Sam

Never mind about the file control. I figured it out. I didn’t have the toolbar open. However, I’m still having problems with the command line color background. If someone could help me with that, I’d be greatly thankful.

That’s Great George ! a Note from me. free or premium version will not change your DraftSight window menus and toolbars. You will see all menus and toolbars in both versions but in free you will get message pop up for Premium features.

You can change Command Line background color from Options dialog box:
      1. Run command: OPTIONS or Go to Menu bar Tools > Options…
      2. On Options dialog box > System Options > Display > Element Colors>
Select ‘Command Window Background’ and click on button ‘Reset Selected item’ or you can click on ‘Reset All’

This will reset you command Line color to white.

Alternatively: If your DraftSight gives you Lots of problems and user settings issues then you restore DraftSight to default but be careful as it will remove all your Customization files and Setting changes if any.
To do this as last option find page : http://www.cadoasis.com/draftsight-tutorials/troubleshooting/
On this page follow section: http://www.cadoasis.com/draftsight-tutorials/troubleshooting/
Please let me know if your problem is resolved or not. Enjoy & Don’t forget to Subscribe for latest Posts and Updates from CadOasis 🙂

I downloaded the latest version of the free option. I’ve been using draftsight free version for a few years now. I have a solidworks seat and only use draftsight for 2d application. In the latest version, I don’t see any file control like saving, etc. is this because I’ve expired the free offer and must now purchase the premium? Also, my command window is black and cannot see the text. Thank you,

    Sincerely,
    George

      Hi kevin,
Toolbox is a premium feature which is available with paid version or Free trial version for 30 days.
If you are using free version then it is not available, start trial from help menu and restart DrfatSight.

      Sam

Good morning, I am trying to download the new Draftsight 2015 to my PC but I am encountering some problems during the installation process. During the process a window pops up with the following warning:
Error 1329 : Specified path is too long
    C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Dassault Systemes

I am not sure why is this happening. Can you help me?
If you need to know, I´ve got Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Carolina,

      Thanks for contacting CadOasis!
This is your Windows OS Problem.
Correct path to install DraftSight folder is C:\ProgramData\Dassault Systemes\
In your case Folder ‘Apllication data’ is extra. You can rename it and try installation or if no other folders except ‘Dassault Systemes’ in it then you can delete this folder.
If path name is too long or contains multiple folders then this message shows.
You can try to search solution for this on Microsoft website.

Please also let us know if you will get any information about this issue.

      Best Regards,
      Sam

        Hello Sam,
I have tried searching for a solution on Microsoft forums and some of them agree with the option of renaming/modifying the Application Data folder. To be honest, I do not like modifying protected files or folders but this was the best solution for me.
I imagine the best practice would be to contact Microsoft support for this.
Thanks for you advice. Very much appreciated!

        Kind regards,

        Carolina

          Hi Carolina,
Glad that I could help you !
I understand the risk of modifying protected files or folders , but don’t worry at least in your case there is no problem.
You can send me GoTo meeting or share your desktop via TeamViever in future, I will check and solve your problem.

          Best Regards,
          Sam

How do I remove the “Try Draftsight Professional” button from the menu? This is rather annoying, and knowing myself I WILL mistakenly click it. (Knowing the people I ususally steer in the direction of DraftSight, they WILL click it and either panic, or sign up for something they don’t really need or want)

This offers 30 days DraftSight professional Trial period which gives you access to Premium functions of DraftSight (have a look on Power trim ). And believe me they are very useful if you know how to use them. After 30 days it this button will automatically Disappear and if you want to Activate or Purchase DraftSight you can go to Help menu list. Start trial today and you won’t see it after 30 days.
